We absolutely love our Torshel storm shelter. We bought the 7x3 model and have it in the front of our 2-car garage. It has been perfectly fine for our family of six. We even squeeze our dogs and cats in there with us. We've recently closed in our garage and converted it into a game room, so it's even more convenient now. The experience was exceptional working with them. We feel safe knowing that when storms roll in, we don't have to worry about anything. This thing is bolted to the concrete with 17 ten inch bolts! We love our storm shelter. We had it installed in our 3rd car garage 2 years ago now and it is perfect. After researching above ground/in house shelters, we decided to go with aTorshel shelter. We added to our home and wanted a unit that we didn't have to go outside and underground. (Were getting up in years) This shelter allows us easy access from our bedroom. (Very convenient for us) We have used it a few times during strong thunderstorms and a nearby tornado. Torshel was incredible to work with. From picking out the correct unit, discussing options, and arranging pickup, Torshel was always easy to contact and quick to assist. I chose to pick my unit up at the Jackson Mississippi warehouse, and that was a seamless process. Rick, the warehouse manager, was extremely attentive. I also chose to self install the unit, which was simple thanks to the video and printed directions. All parts are inventoried and labeled so everything was easy to find and accounted for. It really goes without saying, but once assembled the shelter seems unbelievably strong and it anchored well to my existing foundation. I can’t say enough good things about this company, and I’d recommend them to anyone considering a storm shelter!

However, 70% of our sales are above-ground units. These units are designed for easy installation, providing a convenient and quick solution. They have proven to withstand an EF5 tornado, giving you peace of mind in the face of a storm.

Torshel’s shelters are engineered and tested to meet the highest quality standards at a competitive price. All of our residential storm shelters are FEMA 320 compliant, and all of our commercial shelters are FEMA 361 compliant. They also exceed ICC 500 protocols.

WILL YOUR UNITS STAND-UP TO AN EF5 TORNADO?

Yes. Torshel’s products are designed to withstand the strongest tornadoes. Our shelters are not intended to be used for protection against fire, floods, or storm surges. Our units have been designed to protect against flying debris, wind uplift, and crushing forces that extreme weather can cause.

I WANT TO INSTALL IT MYSELF; DO YOU DELIVER YOUR STORM SHELTER?

Yes, we can. You will need some background and understanding of construction skills and equipment to install the unit. We can provide you with an instruction manual and video tutorial. A shipping fee will be applied to a sales order. We can ship any unit to anywhere in the US as long as the delivery site is accessible for a truck.
