Welded Storm Shelters

Your best three gains

In one investment...

As a storm shelter

The primary purpose of these units is to protect their occupants from violent and severe weather conditions such as tornados and hurricanes.

As a panic room

Furthermore, your Torshel storm shelter is not just a shelter but a secure vault that can protect your weapons, jewelry, or other essential types of valuable household and business belongings. Our shelters come with a standard commercial key deadbolt; if needed, two or more deadbolts can be installed. Non-drillable and digital locks are also available. While it’s important to note that this is NOT a fireproof safe, our safe rooms come with air intakes to provide oxygen to the people inside, ensuring their safety. We recommend buying a small fireproof safe for all your documents, money, and other items and putting it inside the storm shelter.

Residential Storm Shelters

Why are our shelters so popular?

Torshel storm shelters are made of structural heavy-duty steel and are among the best in the United States. Our storm shelters are well-constructed and adequately anchored. Such units will withstand an EF5 tornado, according to engineers and professionals at Texas Tech University. They are the perfect solution for older people, people with disabilities, claustrophobics, and clients whose houses have post-tension cables in their concrete slabs. Recently, we exposed our shelters to rigorous testing to confirm their adherence to safety regulations and performance standards; please refer to our videos to see the remarkable results. Our residential and commercial shelters surpass FEMA’s strict guidelines and exceed ICC 500 protocols. The client is given two options: bring their chairs inside the unit, or Torshel can install two removable wooden benches.

Residential Storm Shelters

If you are building a new house, Torshel can install the safe room after the concrete is cured and before or while the framing goes up.

Our safe room shelters come with four interior heavy-duty (5/8” x 5”) steel sliding locks. They are installed inside the frame, making it almost impossible to be accessed by intruders or debris.

Residential Storm Shelters

The best location for the unit will be a hidden closet in your master bedroom, in the middle of the house, under the stairs, or in a closet in your garage. These shelters must be placed on a sturdy, reliable concrete slab, ensuring safety and peace of mind.

Residential Storm Shelters

Torshel’s safe rooms come in various sizes, fitting anywhere from 3 to 32 people per unit, and are thoroughly powder-coated inside and out, ensuring your safety and security.

Our most common stock residential sizes are 3’ x 7’, 4’ x 6’, and 4’ x 8’. If you need bigger units, please look into our commercial safe rooms. We can custom-build any size with a maximum dimension of 8’ W x 20’ L. The standard height of our shelter is 6’.5”. Additional height is available up to 8’ for an extra fee.

How do I get it

Truck-lift-gate

You can pick up your shelter at one of our warehouses located in Jackson, MS, or Springfield, MO, just as many clients and contractors do.  You will need to bring a flatbed truck or a suitable trailer and a truck to haul it; you or your contractor can install it following Torshel’s guidelines.

However; 70% of our sales are above ground units. They are easier to install and have proven to withstand an EF5 tornado.

For an extra and affordable fee, we can bring this shelter and professionally install it at your current house or new construction.  We send out our team of installers to the following states: Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. Ask your family, neighbors, and friends, in case they would like to acquire a safe room also.  We can discuss a special discount depending on the size of the shelters and the distance from each other.
