Modular Storm Shelters

YOUR BEST THREE GAINS

IN ONE INVESTMENT…

As a storm shelter

The primary purpose of these units is to protect their occupants from violent and severe weather conditions such as tornados and hurricanes.

As a panic room

Furthermore, your Torshel storm shelter is not just a shelter but a secure vault that can protect your weapons, jewelry, or other essential types of valuable household and business belongings. Our shelters come with a standard commercial key deadbolt; if needed, two or more deadbolts can be installed. Non-drillable and digital locks are also available. While it’s important to note that this is NOT a fireproof safe, our safe rooms come with air intakes to provide oxygen to the people inside, ensuring their safety. We recommend buying a small fireproof safe for all your documents, money, and other items and putting it inside the storm shelter.

Modular Storm shelter inside a room

Where is it installed?

This storm shelter is intended to be installed on existing homes (any room, closet, under the stairs, or in the garage) on a concrete slab 4” thick or more. Please ask for 6” L anchor bolts if you have carpet or hardwood floors. However, the shelters can also be installed on new houses after the concrete foundation is cured and before the framing goes up. The best place for the unit will be a hidden closet in your master bedroom, under the stairs, or in a closet in your garage.

Our modular shelters are equipped with four heavy-duty lock pins that fasten the door to its frame to ensure your safety. They come in a variety of sizes. Our most common stock sizes are: 3’ x 5’, 3’ x 7’, 4’ x 6’, 4’ x 8’ and 6’ x 6’.

Emergency escape walls

Most of our doors open to the inside preventing entrapment if debris is blocking the entrance, however, a nice feature of these safe rooms is that you can also remove the bolts holding the walls and exit from the back or the side by using a wrench, which is provided.

Electrical Outlets

You can have electricity inside your safe room with a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) extension cord with four (4) outlets and a switch 125 V, 15 A, 14/3 Gauge. Add $99 for this option.

Modular Storm shelter panels

Before you place an order

Torshel’s modular storm shelters come in 12” and 6” wide panels. First, measure the area where you want the shelter to be installed; make sure this area is wide, long, and tall enough. You will need at least 1.5” extra perimeter all around the shelter so the installer can put the wall bolts in place.

Pay special attention to the door location. Our doors are located 6” from the corner of the shelter. Or preferably, take pictures, draw the area on paper, and send it to us via e-mail to provide you with one or more options in sizes.

How do I get it

Truck-lift-gate

You can pick up your shelter at one of our warehouses located in Jackson, MS, or Springfield, MO, just as many clients and contractors do.  You will need to bring a flatbed truck or a suitable trailer and a truck to haul it; you or your contractor can install it following Torshel’s guidelines.

However; 80% of our sales are above ground units. They are easier to install and have proven to withstand an EF5 tornado.

For an extra and affordable fee, we can bring this shelter and professionally install it at your current house or new construction.  We send out our team of installers to the following states: Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. Ask your family, neighbors, and friends, in case they would like to acquire a safe room also.  We can discuss a special discount depending on the size of the shelters and the distance from each other.
